In her drawings Simone Rueß analyses urban, social and time structures. By interviewing inhabitants from different cities, she collects mental images and space biographies. Her artistic research leads into creation of objects, installations, performances and collective workshops.

After finishing her studies in visual arts at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, Simone Rueß spent four years in Warsaw, supported by the DAAD and the Landesgraduiertenförderung des Ministeriums für Forschung, Wissenschaft und Kunst Baden-Württemberg. She shows her explorations of space in solo exhibitions like Memory of Space (Galeria Le Guern), Warsaw (2016), Fremde Blicke, Ravensburg, Kunstmuseum Ravensburg, Germany (2015), as well as in various group exhibitions. Simone Rueß was granted various fellowships, amongst them a fellowship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (2016/17), at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2013) and the Arbeitsstipendium of Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn, Germany (2012).

Since 2018 she teaches in the field of art and design e.g. at the Goethe-Universiät in Frankfurt am Main or Bergische Universität in Wuppertal. Her courses focus on (inter)subjective perceptions of daily life in analogue and digital space.
